Kersten Stevens
Kersten Stevens began playing the violin at the age of three under the encouragement of her parents, Barry and Barbara Stevens. Over the years she has been featured on network news broadcasts and in other entertainment media as the next celebrated up and coming jazz violinist. She is currently a student at Yale University and a featured member of the all-ladies jazz ensemble SAGE. Kersten has performed at the famous Apollo Theater in its Amateur Night Competition, winning in the Super Top Dog Competition and in Apollo Showtime. Crowned Hal Jackson's Talented Teen Miss Connecticut and 1st runner up in International Competition, she has opened for Bill Cosby and Ray Charles and recently appeared in concert with Regina Carter. Kersten participated in the NAACP ACT-SO Competition held in Houston, Texas and won the first place Gold Medal in the Music/Instrumental Contemporary category. Concert events include Alice Tully Hall, the Audoban Ballroom, The Waldorf Astoria and performances in honor of the actor Denzel Washington.
